My December 2017 box was rather late arriving because their T-shirt supplier didn’t send them enough shirts, but better late than never!!!
If My Subscription Addiction hadn’t pointed it out I might not have noticed, but the box no longer doubles as an item!! In previous boxes, you could make the box itself into something, but now it’s just a normal (albeit, decorated) box.
I’ve actually ended up canceling my subscription to lootcrate after this box. Not only was it mildly frustrating that it was well over two weeks late (they gave me a $5 off coupon, but it only applied to items in their vault), but the items just weren’t as nice. It also seems as though this box was used to offload a bunch of stuff they had extras from old boxes. What makes me think that? My box was different from MSA!
The website is also incredibly confusing (which is how I ended up buying a subscription instead of canceling one once) and honestly, I don’t think it’s worth the hassle anymore.
Lootpin: As always, the subscription comes with a lootpin. I quite liked this one, although it’s nowhere near as cool as the Robot from September 2017. (Remeber when I said their website was glitchy? it’s so bad that I couldn’t find that box listed in their past boxes, so instead, I linked to Subscription Addiction AGAIN).
Star Wars Comic: It seems okay? I mean, I’d rather have a Star Wars goodie than a comic, but its about Rey and it’s nice!
Destiny Shirt: It’s not a fandom I love, but thankfully my BFF likes it, so I’m passing it on to her.
Guardians of the Galaxy Calander: Again, a cute item, but not the kind of thing I want out of my subscription boxes. Not to mention I already have
Gold Figure: I have no idea what fandom this is, but it makes me think of the Dwarven stuff in Skyrim (but it’s not them), so I’ll keep it anyway just because it’s cute.
I’ve canceled my subscription to lootcrate. They pushed this box as being great for Star Wars nerds (to go along with the movie release in December), but my favorite item out of the box wasn’t even Star Wars related! It’s a weird little robot from a fandom I don’t know!
Will I resubscribe in the future? I’m not sure. They are going to be raising their prices, but it seems like the overall quality of their boxes is going down. I prefer boxes with more specific themes because I’m not as interested in various fandoms as others. When I get a box I want a clear idea of what I’m getting, such as “hey this has a big Zelda thing and a few small Lord of the Rings things” or something like that. When a fandom is pushed as the main attraction (in this case, Star Wars), I want more than just
I’m going to be going back and posting reviews for Kingdoms and Robotic, the other two loot crate boxes I purchased, and sharing my story of how I ended up buying another box instead of unsubscribing.
